Charis Kelley is a distinguished multidisciplinary artist whose work spans painting, mixed media, ceramics, and large-scale murals. A native of Houston, Texas, Kelley has established a strong presence in the contemporary art scene with exhibitions in major cities, including Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, and Miami. Her work has been featured in prestigious shows such as Art Basel, the African American Museum in Liberty City, Miami, and the WACO Wearable Art Gala in Los Angeles.
With a foundation in architecture and design, Kelley holds multiple degrees from Prairie View A&M University, including a Bachelor’s in Architecture (B.ARCH), a Bachelor’s in Construction Science (B.S.), and a Master in Community Development (MCD). She is currently a master’s in fine art (MFA) candidate at Houston Christian University (May 2025), focusing on fine art with a concentration in painting, mixed media, and ceramics.
Kelley’s expertise extends beyond fine art into large-scale public and private commissions. She has served as a principal resident artist in multiple locations throughout Houston and has completed significant mural projects for educational institutions, commercial spaces, and community initiatives. Her ability to merge artistic vision with architectural precision has made her a sought-after artist for collectors and corporate clients.
An active mentor and advocate for emerging artists and a member of the Houston Arts Alliance, Women in Architecture, and the American Institute of Architectural Students.
Her collectors include influential people such as Drake, Rakim, EPMD, Slick Rick, Jadakiss, KRS-One, and Phylicia Raashad, just to name a few. Her work continues to be recognized for its bold expression, intricate craftsmanship, and cultural significance.
